San Rafael and Marin County residents can now switch to a more efficient home that uses less water and saves on heating. To assist citizens in covering the cost of home energy-efficient solutions, local governments are providing several incentives. Installing larger-sized heat pump water heaters can help customers with excessive water usage save energy and get a rebate check. We are here to help our residential consumers during this process.
Propane-powered equipment typically offers the lowest options for rebates or tax credits; natural gas-powered equipment offers average rebates; and electric-powered devices offer the highest incentive. Generally speaking, electrical options will result in cheaper daily energy bills. A heat pump, for instance, costs between $.50 and $.95 per day to operate, whereas natural gas and propane water heaters cost between $1.00 and $1.70 and $2.00 and $2.70, respectively.
Natural gas and propane prices are rising annually, contributing to the constant increase in energy expenditures. Buying electrically powered appliances gives you an advantage because electricity prices usually increase at the slowest rate. Furthermore, you can significantly reduce your overall costs, including the original purchase and ongoing monthly expenses, by opting for electrically powered HVAC equipment that qualifies for the maximum rebates or tax credits.
Available rebates are time-sensitive and subject to sudden changes. Make sure to review each program’s unique requirements in order to be eligible for savings.
By lowering carbon emissions, BayREN collaborates with the local governments of the nine counties that comprise the Bay Area to encourage electrification and home energy efficiency. BayREN offers rebates to small businesses and homeowners with single or multifamily properties to install efficient equipment. They can pay you incentives for water efficiency upgrades (shower heads, toilets, etc.), air conditioning, furnaces, insulation, home energy scores, and more through their program.
Rebates are not available from BayREN for installed propane-fueled systems.
Electrify Marin is offering rebates to single-family homeowners in Marin County who replace natural gas appliances with electrically powered units. This will reduce carbon emissions and promote safer, healthier home environments. The rebates are for electric products, including water heaters, furnaces, and more.
A manufacturer’s rebate is a financial incentive the product manufacturer provides to homeowners in exchange for installing an energy-efficient option. Manufacturers provide rebates directly to encourage customers to save more on their efficient appliances and systems.
Through the rebate program Tech Clean California, heat pump water heater technology is specifically promoted for home energy savings. By offering various heat pump utility rebates to qualified clients, their aim is to increase the accessibility of heat pumps for homeowners.
The federal government passed the Inflation Reduction Act, which provides households with federal tax credits for electrification and energy efficiency to slow climate change. For your primary property, you can receive federal tax credits on high-efficiency air conditioning and furnaces, air sealing, heat pump water heaters, mini-split HVAC systems, central heat pumps, and duct sealing. When installing or replacing your equipment, you can speak with a federal tax expert to find out which HVAC systems you can claim as a tax credit. Only owners of new or existing residences are eligible to apply for these tax benefits. The Inflation Reduction Act does not allow landlords or property owners who do not reside in the house to receive a tax credit.
Our constant goals are to utilize more electric appliances, emit less greenhouse gas, and offer homes the most affordable options to improve indoor air quality and space heating. For any job you finish with John Owens Services, we will always verify whether there are any eligible rebates for the kind of installation you want done. Once you’ve chosen whatever equipment to install, our team can help you collect the information needed and submit it to the rebate program you want to be eligible for.
Any appliance you purchase will still require a full upfront payment for installation. You will then be reimbursed for a portion of the system or appliance’s purchase price that you had installed by the rebate program you applied for through a tax credit. You will receive this money back in addition to saving money on monthly energy bills and having a more efficient system that won’t require replacement as often as older, less efficient systems. A new electric appliance can help reduce your natural gas usage and carbon footprint.
Because every rebate program is different, it depends on which reimbursement you have filed for and when. Refunds should be issued to homeowners 8–12 weeks following the purchase; however, actual delivery times may vary based on the program in question and the time of installation.
While not all of the aforementioned programs offer low-income families rebates, some do. You can reach out to John Owens Services, and we will assist you in gathering the required information and submitting it to the appropriate program. Additionally, we will be able to determine which rebate programs you are eligible for.
When you install a new electric appliance or replace natural gas appliances with electricity-powered appliances, it is imperative to ensure that your main electric service panel can support the capacity needed for optimal operation. John Owens Services may send a representative to check your main electric service panel to make sure your new electric appliance installation will function with it.
Our philosophy is simple, we always want to maintain equipment to give it the longest life possible. Next, we want to focus on repairing when something goes wrong. Then only as the last choice, we replace equipment when needed. That’s the John Owens Way.
