Frequently Asked Questions

Get quick answers to common questions about our AC services

Ducted Systems

Ducted systems can link to your pre-existing ductwork and will move warm air from inside your home to the outside in order to cool it, working in reverse to provide heating.

Ductless Systems

Ductless systems will use a single outdoor unit linked to one or more units inside, offering zoned heating and cooling to specific areas of your home.

Air-to-air

Air-to-air systems from Mitsubishi or American Standard move warm air into or out of your house to cool or heat it.

Air-to-water

Air-to-water systems can provide both space and water heating. They can be used with systems such as radiant flooring to send hot water through tubes in your floors for home heating or to plumbing fixtures for hot water.

Heat pumps work well in our climate zone because of the mild climate we have with few extreme temperatures. Though they are most efficient in warmer weather, they are still 100% efficient down to 37 degrees. This is because they are more efficient with the more warmth they can extract from the outside. For areas with regular snow or extremely low temperatures, a hyper-heat unit may be the more useful option.

A heat pump moves heat from one place to another to provide warmth or coolness in the house, rather than something like a gas or propane furnace burning fuel to create heat. With heat pumps, it will take longer to warm up the house the colder it is outside since there is less heat in the outside air to transfer inside. So if you’re finding that the house is taking a while to heat up, it simply means there is a low amount of heat in the outside air to transfer inside the registers. In this case, keeping your unit at a set temperature and running at a low pace is recommended.
