Job Locations From John Owens Services In Marin County
To future customers,
I want to highly recommend John Owens for your project. Over the past two years, we have used John Owens for 4 major projects on two homes. In the first case, we hired him to fix a botched heating/solar system for another contractor. He did such a great job and was so resourceful and efficient in his work that we only use him for any plumbing, hvac, radiant. solar or electric work that we need done. It is rare to find a general contractor that is also knowledgeable and licensed in all of the above areas! Because of this, he does not need to depend on the expertise of expensive subcontractors.
John is pleasure to work with for many reasons.
- He is reliable and designs a system that meets your needs.
- His team is polite, respects your privacy and is neat.
- He is very conscious about energy efficient recommendations ( His own home is LEED certified)
- He gives you fair and accurate estimates. If something unexpected is encountered, he communicates this to you immediately.
- He is accountable for all his work and stands behind it.
- All his work is to code and functions as stated it would
Most importantly , he is honest and will tell you exactly what you can get for your budget that will work in your home. If you have any questions, please feel free to get my contact information from John.

To Whom It May Concern:
In the Home Ownership Programs of Marin Housing Authority there are typically 20 to 25 small construction contracts each year. As the Program Manager in 2007-08, I was always delighted when John Owens won the bid because I knew that the job would come in on time and within budget and that the technical challenges always present in inspected rehabilitation jobs would be handled creatively and expeditiously.
John has a combination of strengths most unusual in small contractor, starting with licenses in five different trades and 30 years of on-site experience. This makes him a quick problem-solver and gives in depth knowledge of, for example, energy-efficiency and green building issues.
Apart from these technical advantages, his honesty and straightforward way of doing business and knowledge of contracting law and practice will appeal to anyone with responsibility for contract management or financing.
It gives me great pleasure to recommend John Owens for your next project.

And former General Contractor
John Owens was an integral part of my home remodel in Corte Madera which actually consisted of a complete home rebuild. As a licensed plumber, electrician, HVAC and General Contractor, he facilitated my ability to act as my own general by making recommendations and handling unfamiliar aspects of the job throughout the process. He provided all of the HVAC, Electric and Plumbing as well as the finish carpentry and appliance installation. He and I were on the job most of time, and the 3000 square foot project was completed in just 5.5 months because we could do things simultaneously.
The house turned out beautifully and it was due in large respect to the support and excellent workmanship provided by John Owens and his crew.

John Owens and his very capable crew recently completed a substantial piece of work on the successful renovation of our home in Sausalito.
The project involved retrofitting of an older home with a new foundation, upgraded sewer lines, electrical and plumbing repairs and upgrades, outdoor lighting, landscaping, and new front entry. It was a relatively complex project on a very small site. As such, it required a high degree of coordination and interaction between subs.
John and his crew were integral to the success of the project, and were responsible for all the “systems” (plumbing, sewer, electrical, new heating system, tankless water heater, lighting). Their work was first-rate, responsive, and always done with a smile. Great can-do attitude!
What was especially important to us was John’s ability to perform both the plumbing and electrical work, usually with the same person. The efficiency of his crew performing multiple tasks resulted in a substantial productivity boost for us, and dramatically reduced the overall coordination effort, permits and like. I have no doubt the overall quality was also higher as a result, and the project ultimately cost less than if we had used two separate subs for these critical and often inter-related tasks.
All in all, a complex, challenging job well done … and on time! And, did I mention that John is funny, and a pleasure to work with?
We will definitely use John and his crew again on future projects.
– Sincerely, Mark R. Kriss
